We wanted to provide you with some background information on the authors of this blog. We write this blog for you and we hope you enjoy what you see here. Here’s some of our stories:

Katharine Millet: Katharine learned to cook by necessity while living in Paris with a vegetarian friend. Her friend couldn’t eat out in that meat-loving metropolis, and Katharine couldn’t afford to! Thus, a love and a troublesome addiction to cooking and cookbooks (respectively) was born. She lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts with her husband RJ and works in the arts.
Syrah McGivern: Syrah is always on the quest to promote sustainable, delicious food that supports healthy communities, land and water and she likes to spark peoples interest about where their food comes from. She studied nutrition science and policy at Tufts University and dietetics at Tulane’s School of Public Health. She currently works on the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch research team and lives with her chocolate-, beer- and bicycle-loving husband in Massachusetts.

Aimee Mott: Aimee grew up in Lafayette, CA over in the East Bay. Aimee’s Mom Barbara was a big influence on her cooking as a kid, and grew up eating healthy, home cooked, gourmet goodness since she was weened from her bottle. She loves to eat seasonally and local and has a soft spot for Chinese Dim Sum. Aimee currently lives in Cambridge, MA with her husband (Adrian, see below) and is a high school English teacher.

Jeff Berg: Jeff is a product of the big bad north shore of Boston. His cooking has branched out a great deal from his childhood, and he and his wife Amanda love cooking together. Jeff is a master on the grill, but loves to cook (and eat) all types of grub. Jeff currently lives in Arlington, MA with his wife and works in the English department at Harvard University.
Tyson Greenwood: Tyson is our resident chef writer and can cook like it’s nobody’s business. I’ve sat at this man’s former restaurant and been served the best steak I’ve ever had period (and that’s no joke). Tyson has worked at such fantastic Bay Area restaurants as Plump Jack Cafe, Masa’s and Manresa. Tyson currently lives in the upper Castro district of San Francisco with his wife Katie.

Luke Owen: Luke is a Philly boy at heart. His childhood exposure to such Philly staples as the cheese steak and soft pretzels have given him a unique perspective on a certain class of restaurant. Luke also spent some of his childhood years working the line at a popular Berwyn, PA diner. Luke works in sales and lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife Amanda.

Taylor Barstow: Taylor grew up in New York City and started cooking by making scrambled eggs in his Dad’s mid-town apartment on Columbus Ave. Though his tastes have grown over the years, he still makes a bang up scrambled eggs, as it is a family tradition. He enjoys gardening and eating as-local-as-possible foods as much as possible. Taylor is a software engineer and lives in Somerville, MA.
Adrian Mott: Adrian was inspired to learn the ways of cooking from his step-dad Bill, who was obsessed with Julia Child as a young lad. Adrian’s cooking interests blossomed living in the Bay Area and frequenting the bounty of Farmer’s Markets in the area. He also has been very interested in reading cookbooks of late and trying to combine recipe ideas from different places. Adrian works in technology and lives with his wife in Cambridge, MA.
