I purchased purdue chicken for my holiday barbeacue and was very disappointed. The chicken was not only tough but didn't taste right and I bought it yesterday. I threw out alot of chicken and had to make a run to the store. It was very embarrasing.

Very interesting article here about the effects of a recession on the Slow Food lifestyle (if you can get around the Brit-speak like "pudding" instead of "dessert") --

I know, I wish I had known about this too, I would've been there in a flash. I adore Farmer's and local markets. In fact, I'm leaving work a little early to go to one right now. Great post!

What, Waters was at Harvard talking recently? Damn. It's tough to sell the movement to a large portion of Americans when the costs are so different. The fight really needs to be fought in Congress where more laws should be passed to protect the local farmer and help provide tax breaks to those supporting their community. Once the costs come down, the argument is easier to support.

But saying that, there are still tons of families who could afford the extra buck or two for fresh, local produce and meats but just don't see the need or find it inconvenient. These folks need a slight kick to the brain.
